SHEPHERD OF THE MOUNTAINS CHURCH WELCOMES WORSHIP PASTOR
Evan Dean has joined the staff of Shepherd of the Mountains as the new Worship Pastor.
Evan grew up in Middletown, Ohio, with his mother, father and two sisters, one older and one his twin. He attended Anderson University in Indiana, a private Christian University, where he obtained his BA in Church Music. While attending Anderson, Evan was a member of the Anderson University Chorale for 4 years and toured throughout 12 different states and Denmark, Sweden, Finland and Norway. He interned during one summer at the Peachtree Christian Church in Midtown Atlanta, Georgia.
Prior to coming to Shepherd of the Mountains, Evan was the Director of Music at the First Christian Church in Middletown, Ohio. During that time he sang with the Young Professional/Choral Collective in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Evan is not only a choir director, but an accomplished pianist, organist and vocalist. Additionally, Evan coordinates all music programs at Shepherd Church including the Shepherd Choir, the Shepherd Quartet (men’s quartet), the Grace Notes (mixed quartet), the Shepherd Praise Team, numerous soloists and special music events. As Worship Pastor, Evan is in charge of the Order of Worship and works closely with the Senior Pastor, Al Beck.
Evan just recently began a weekly music class at the Mountain Youth School in Peachtree and is the pianist for the Saturday evening mass at Saint William Catholic Church in Murphy. He will be leading a bible study group for young adults (ages 18-25) in the near future that will meet weekly at the Parson’s Pub located in downtown Murphy next to China Town Restaurant.
Julie Baker, Shepherd Church Administrator, says, “We are very excited and feel blessed beyond words to have Evan here at Shepherd Church. He brings not only youth, vitality and a fresh approach, but amazing musical talent and skills and a keen eye for detail. He is wise and mature beyond his years and as we say here in the south ‘doesn’t meet a stranger’. God always has a plan and He certainly knew what we needed when He sent Evan to us. Evan will enhance our worship service and complement our incredible Senior Pastor, Al Beck, in delivering God’s message and doing His spiritual work here at Shepherd Church and throughout the community.”
To give an example of Pastor Evan’s faith and spirit, here is a quote from the second article he wrote for Shepherd News, the monthly newsletter of Shepherd of the Mountains: “Looking forward: In addition to creating wonderful music, I look forward to opening myself to hear and act on God’s calling in my life and in the life of the church. Exploring what it means to not only be a servant, but to figure out and embrace what it means to be a Pastor! I’m here for you, just as you have been for me. I’m praying for you and working for you and in His Kingdom, which we share! Bring it on Shepherds!”
Shepherd of the Mountains is located at 68 Fairfax Drive directly behind and above Eller and Owens Furniture Store off of Highway 64 west across the street from Arbys.
